Underfloor heating.

What it means in interior design.

Underfloor heating runs warm-water pipes or electric mats under the floor finish, so the whole floor becomes a low-temperature radiator. It frees the walls of radiators.

In practice

Wet systems suit whole floors and heat pumps; electric mats suit small bathrooms as a top-up. Check the finish: thick rugs and some engineered boards insulate the floor and blunt the heat.
