PBR material.

What it means in interior design.

A PBR (physically based rendering) material describes a surface with real-world properties: base colour, roughness, metalness and bumps. It behaves correctly under any light.

In practice

Roughness matters more than colour: matt plaster, satin lacquer and oiled oak differ mostly in how they spread highlights. Sample real finishes and match them under the scene’s light, not on a white screen.
